An annual one-day road bike tour through the rolling farm land between Saratoga Springs and the Hudson River, near the Lakes to Locks Passage. Occurs on the 3rd Sunday in July (July 17th in 2011) and offers 15-mile and 35-mile loops.
The Tour de Farm bike-a-thon is a fun, healthy and educational bike ride organized by the Agricultural Stewardship Association and Saratoga PLAN to raise funds for land conservation and celebrate this special area of the upper Hudson Valley. After riders register, they have the option of creating a fundraising goal and asking their friends and family to support their ride. All proceeds benefit the conservation in this historic region, allowing it to remain a beautiful place to live and ride!
The region surrounding the Saratoga National Historical Park is characterized by vibrant, productive farms with spectacular agricultural landscapes. They have been relatively unchanged since the 1777 Battle of Saratoga, providing an excellent riding opportunity for cyclists eager to enjoy and learn more about this unique historic region along the Hudson River. The 35 mile loop will begin at 9AM and the 15 mile loop will begin at 10AM. Each route has educational stops along the way and a post-ride picnic prepared with fresh ingredients from local farms! Both rides begin and end at Hand Melon Farm, near the Hudson River between Schuylerville and Stillwater - rain or shine.
